Job Overview:
As an Assistant Manager at Geek Out, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the store. You’ll work closely with the Store Manager to lead a team, drive sales, and maintain a high standard of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Store Manager: Assist with overseeing store operations, staff management, and ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.
- Team Leadership: Motivate, guide, and develop a team of retail staff to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve sales targets.
- Stock Management: Ensure effective stock control, merchandising, and inventory management in line with company standards.
- Customer Service: Lead by example, ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience and handling any escalated queries or complaints professionally.
- Sales and Profitability: Support the store in meeting and exceeding sales targets, implementing marketing and promotional activities where necessary.
- Staff Training and Development: Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring staff, fostering a positive and engaged working environment.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all staff adhere to health and safety regulations, safeguarding the well-being of employees and customers.
- Administrative Duties: Assist with scheduling, payroll, and maintaining store records.
Requirements:
- Experience: Experience in a supervisory or management role within retail.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Customer Focus: A passion for delivering outstanding customer service and a good understanding of retail sales processes.
- Commercial Awareness: A good understanding of retail KPIs and how to drive sales and profitability.
- Organisation: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting confidently with customers and staff alike.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with modern retail technologies, including point of sale (POS) systems, stock management tools, and basic IT skills.
- Passion for Pop Culture: An interest in comics, films, games or popular culture is highly desirable.
